Here are your action steps

Step 1

For women

  • Pull your hair back out of your face in a bun or make sure it is neat.
  • If you have some gray cover it up for a fresher younger look.
  • Keep your make up natural (too much make up and over drawn eyebrows can be distracting).
  • Keep your jewelry to a minimum (less is more)

For Men

  • Get a hair cut
  • Wear a Jacket
  • Shine your shoes
  • No matter the position if you have a suit, wear it (it will make you stand out)

Step 2
Listen and answer the questions asked (don’t over sell yourself, remember your interviewer may find that you are qualified but they also want to make sure you are a good fit for the position)

Step 3
Always be prepared and ask some questions, even if you know the answers already.  The interviewers like this because it shows interest (don’t let the fact that you are very thorough keep you from getting the job)

Step 4
If you are interviewing with a women or someone younger, be respectful and don’t talk down to them (be humble)

Step 5
If you have had the same job for a long time and not a lot of experience doing anything else don’t let that discourage you, because you can make yourself more employable by

  • Volunteering with the company you would like to work for
  • Consider relocating
  • Taking some classes
  • Changing careers
